Climate Change
by Aoife Mannix
It’s been raining since Monday,
no cats, no dogs,
just giant green frogs.
It’s been windy since Tuesday,
not blowy, not breezy
just gale force lemon squeezy.
It’s been hailing since Wednesday,
no golf balls, no ice,
just angry polar bears,
which isn’t so nice.
It’s been snowing since Thursday,
no toboggans, no flakes
just super sized sugar cakes.
It’s been flooding since Friday,
not rivers, not lakes,
just bath tubs up and down the land
sinking into quick sand.
It’s been quaking since Saturday,
not shivering, not shaking,
just a disaster of our own making.
It’s been apocalyptic since Sunday,
no four horsemen, no second coming,
just me hiding under the table
for as long as I’m able.
